The kids from Maui Economic Opportunity and the Tobacco Free Hawaii Coalition selected smoke free cars as their top priority project for 2017. The law would protect minors from second hand smoke in vehicles.
On January 4th, the PEA Committee passed a proposed ordinance and over 38 kids from Maui and Molokai testified to support this legislation.
On January 19th this bill passed 1st reading, where 60 high school students from Kamehameha Schools Maui Campus attended the meeting, to support the passage. Second and final reading is anticipated for February 2nd for final passage.
