Upcountry Updates: Recognizing our young leaders, Budget, Voting and more
FY 2022 - 2023 Budget, Upcountry
The FY2022-2023 Budget began on July 1, 2022. As we approach the mid-year mark, here are some highlights for Upcountry.
Department of Housing and Human Concerns
A portion of $100,907 for Pediatric Therapies Hawaii - occupational and physical therapy for Upcountry and West Maui minor (portion of monies to be used for a Mediation Services grant as well)
Mayor’s Office of Economic Development
$140,000 for Economic Development & Cultural Programs
$450,000 for the Kula Ag Park to fund UV treatment to meet vegetable cleaning process and environmental clean-up
Department of Parks & Recreation
$22,000 for a new security system at Upcountry Pool
Department of Public Works
$150,000 to continue removal of high risk eucalyptus trees (Upcountry)
Department of Water Supply
$200,000 for Upcountry Maui Well. A grant from the State, administered by DLNR, to develop ground water sources for State of Hawaii projects and the County of Maui

Included in $9,780,000 for Countywide Road Resurfacing and Pavement Preservation
Lower Kula Road Pavement Reconstruction
Pukalani Terrace Subdivision Pavement Reconstruction (Halaulani/Hanalani/Ehilani/Ikalani)
$500,000 for Upper Kula Transmission Improvements
Replacement/Upgrade of portions of the Upper Kula Trasmission damaged during the 12/05/2021 severe weather event that damaged portions or transmission waterline serving the upper Kula region
Included in $4,700,000 for Countywide Water Facility Improvements under the Department of Water Supply
